I’m so excited to finally share that my book is now available.
This book is deeply personal to me. I poured everything I had into it—my experience, my knowledge, my frustration, and my hope for safer, more equitable care for Black mothers.
I wrote this because Black mothers are still dying in American healthcare, and we cannot continue treating those outcomes as mysterious or inevitable. Bias, microaggressions, racism, and misogynoir can show up in clinical spaces in ways that affect whether Black women are heard, believed, protected, and cared for.
This book is for nurses, midwives, and maternal-health professionals who are ready to look more closely at the care they provide, challenge what they’ve been taught, and take greater responsibility for creating safer patient experiences.
Along with exploring the realities Black mothers face during pregnancy, labor, delivery, and postpartum care, the book includes a workbook to help providers reflect, strengthen communication, and put what they learn into practice.
I’m incredibly proud to finally have this book out in the world, and I hope it becomes a resource that challenges, teaches, and helps create meaningful change.
This is not a feel-good exploration of bias. It is a call to action.
